The Impersonate User function allows an administrator to temporarily view the PowerHouse platform from another user's perspective.
This can be useful when checking a user's access, verifying configuration or assisting with a support issue.
Impersonate a User
- Navigate to User Accounts.
- Locate the user you want to impersonate.
- Select the three-dot menu on the right-hand side of the user's account.
- Select Impersonate user.
- The user's view of the platform will open, allowing you to see the platform as that user.
When to Use Impersonation
Impersonating a user can help administrators:
- Check what content and functionality is available to a user.
- Confirm that group assignments and access settings are working as expected.
- Review the user's experience following configuration changes.
- Investigate an issue reported by a user.
- Verify that the correct learning, activities or other content is available.
Using Impersonation Carefully
While impersonating a user, remember that you are accessing the platform from that user's perspective.
Avoid completing learning, submitting forms, changing information or performing other actions on behalf of the user unless this is specifically required.
For troubleshooting, it is generally best to use impersonation to view and verify the user's experience rather than interact with content on their behalf.
Note: The Impersonate user option is only available to administrators with the appropriate permissions.
